In Mathew, Mark and Luke (Matthew 3:16, 4:1, Mark 1:10,12-13, and Luke 3:21-22) we learn that Christ is driven by the spirit into the Wilderness for 40 days and nights AFTER his Baptism, when he was about 30 Years old (Luke 3:23).
John 1:1-39
John 1:1-18 is the John Prologue introducing as Jesus Christ the word/spokesman of God (Revelation 19:13). John 1:18-28 John speaks of the Baptism.
1st Day
The 1st day (John 1:29) in John, we learn that John states that he only “saw the spirit” coming upon the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the World (John 1:32-33).
2nd Day
On the 2nd day (John 1:35) John again states (to 2 of Johns Apostles) "Look, the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the World" (John 1:36). The 2 Apostles of John hear this, and they follow the Messiah (John 1:37-39).
3rd Day
The 3rd day we see Christ performing the 1st of his wonders (John 2:1-11) at Wedding in Kana.
So, if Matthew, Mark and Luke tell us that Christ AFTER his Baptism was lead by the spirit into the Wilderness for 40 days and nights, how do we reconcile these facts with Johns Passage about Christ’s Baptism?
For, after his Baptism, as described in John, we see Christ on the2nd day showing the Apostles of John where it was he was living, and3rd day he was at a Wedding Feast in Kana, So, how can this be? For in Matthew, Mark, and Luke we see Christ is driven into the Wilderness for 40 days and nights? Is John out of harmony Matthew,Mark and Luke?
John Saw (Perceived With His Eyes) the Spirit Descend Upon Him
On the 1st day (John 1:29) John merely stated that John the Baptist “saw the spirit”, he perceived with his eyes, or he looked at the Spirit coming upon Christ, which implies he saw this as he was Baptizing Christ. John is speaking of, and giving witness of a past time event, “he saw”.
God showed John 1) who the one was, and 2) what he should look have looked for as evidence of this one being chosen when he to be Baptized by John.
The Baptism and Career of Christ According to Matthew Mark, Luke and John
The Career of the Messiah begins 40 days AFTER he is baptized and AFTER he spends 40 days and nights in the Wilderness (as recorded in Matthew 3:16, 4:1, Mark 1:10,12-13, and Luke 3:21-22).
But, in John, the Baptism would appear to have been carried out BEFORE events of John 1:1-2:12 (and beyond) were even recorded.
John 1:1-39 are recorded AFTER his Baptism and AFTER he has spent his 40 days and nights in the Wilderness.
John 1:1 Onwrads Johns Introduction of Jesus as Christ the Messiah
John 1:1 onwards we see John introducing Jesus Christ the Messiah, and why it was we could believe in the Light that John the Baptist was sent ahead of to preach about, the light that carried out the first of his wonders in Kana.
The Baptism and 40 Days in Wilderness in Month of Adar Before Passover in Month of Nisan
Either way, the Baptism of Christ occurs 40 days or so (the Month of Adar) BEFORE the Passover (the Month of Nisan) in Jerusalem, when he was around 30 years of age.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and subsequent days (as recorded by John) are days and events occurring AFTER his Baptism and Return home.
